Course description

The carers course is designed as an introduction to the subject and is split into three modules:

  • Carer perspective – This module looks at what it means to be a carer, the difference between family carers and paid carers, how many people in the UK are carers and the impact caring has on them.

  • Legal and policy perspective – This module considers why carers should be involved in commissioning decisions and covers the related legislation.

  • Carer involvement and participation - This module looks at evidence of good practice, roles and responsibilities and different types of carer organisations.

Who is it for?

This course is aimed at new and existing Patient and Public Voice Partners who are sitting on NHS England boards and advisory groups and NHS England employees who work with partners/volunteers.
Learners will be expected to complete evaluation feedback after working through the course.
