Explore and learn how compassionate conversations can support the development of compassionate cultures. Explore, understand and practice ways to put compassion at the heart of how we connect with others, enabling us to speak truthfully without malice; to engage with emotive situations with clarity; and encourage others to take action. By transforming reactive communication we learn how to communicate with compassion and authenticity.
Aims and Objectives
Explore, better understand and practice compassionate communication, including:
- Understanding the principles of compassionate communication and how these can be applied in our everyday conversations
- Being aware of personal triggers and reactivity and the value of self-empathy and self-compassion as a way of creating the space to remain present and connected
- Exploring and practicing compassionate deep listening
- Exploring and practicing authentic self-expression and the ability to stay connected and present in difficult situations
- Exploring how the learning can be applied in personal everyday situations and different leadership contexts
Cultural Wisdom: A Mindful Approach to Leading on Diversity and Inclusion:
Explore and learn how to adopt a compassionate approach to inclusion, diversity and unconscious bias; gently supporting your capacity to remain engaged with relevant diversity and inclusion topics, and bring your full human experience into the process. Deepen and broaden your understanding of contemporary diversity issues through the lens of cultural wisdom. It is through these deeper insights that we learn how to act with compassion and authenticity, as well as knowing how best to shine a spotlight on the root causes of inequity and injustice.

- Understanding how cultural wisdom differs from cultural awareness, intelligence and competence
- Awareness of the qualities of cultural wisdom
- Having an experiential understanding of different approaches to developing cultural wisdom
- Understanding how cultural wisdom can be cultivated through mindfulness and compassion-based practices
- Being introduced to mindfulness based approaches to inclusion that can be applied in the workplace
